Weleri, 21 November 2025 PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) conducted a strategic visit to the development site of WELPort. The visit, led by PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin together with the board of directors, aimed to review land readiness and explore collaboration opportunities for the development and future operation of WELPort.
During the visit, KAI’s management received a comprehensive presentation on infrastructure development plans and the projected role of WELPort as a new logistics hub in Central Java. The location of WELPort is considered highly strategic, positioned along a major national logistics corridor and offering strong potential to enhance railway-based freight connectivity.
Discussions also focused on integrating WELPort’s future services with KAI’s logistics network, the concept of dry port operations, and collaborative models to support greater efficiency across the supply chain. This initiative aligns with the proposal for WELPort to be designated as a National Strategic Project (PSN) for freight and agricultural distribution across Java Island.
This visit reinforces the shared commitment between KAI and the WELPort development team to build faster, more efficient, and more sustainable logistics infrastructure. The success of this collaboration is expected to help accelerate regional economic growth in Central Java and contribute to nationwide connectivity.
